KraussMaffei Automation GmbH is the automation subsidiary of KraussMaffei Group, a manufacturer of machinery for processing plastics and rubber. Josef Neureder founded the business in Schwaig, Bavaria, in 1982; Krauss-Maffei Kunststofftechnik acquired it on December 31, 2002, and the unit continued operating under Neureder's leadership before taking the KraussMaffei Automation name. In May 2024 it moved from its long-time Schwaig/Oberding site to the KraussMaffei Group's newly built headquarters campus in Parsdorf, near Munich.
The company builds automation equipment for injection molding, including the SPX10 sprue picker (1 kilogram payload), the LRXplus linear robot series (5 to 100 kilogram payloads) for part removal and stacking, the LRXplus Twin dual-arm linear robot for confined footprints, and six-axis articulated IR-series robots (8 to 210 kilograms) for demolding. The robots work with KraussMaffei injection molding machines as well as third-party machinery, as new installations or retrofits, and can be combined with vision inspection, conveyors, and downstream assembly stations into complete molding cells.
By 2012 the operation employed about 180 people at Schwaig and Schwerin, and had delivered its 1,000th robot from Schwerin. KraussMaffei Automation serves molders in the automotive, packaging, medical technology, and consumer goods industries.
