InTouch Health, founded in 2002 in Santa Barbara, California, developed the InTouch Vita (RP-VITA) telepresence robot in partnership with iRobot, enabling remote physician presence in hospital settings. The RP-VITA received FDA 510(k) clearance in 2012 and was deployed across hospitals nationwide for acute care telemedicine. The platform combined autonomous navigation, high-definition video, and electronic health record integration to allow specialists to conduct bedside consultations remotely.
Teladoc Health acquired InTouch Health on July 1, 2020 for approximately $600 million, integrating its hospital-grade telepresence technology into a comprehensive virtual care delivery ecosystem spanning hospital to home.
