Company Overview

InspeCity Space Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian space technology company in Thane, Maharashtra, near Mumbai. It builds technologies and platforms for in-space servicing, mobility and satellite life extension. It was founded in 2022 by Prof. Arindrajit Chowdhury, who serves as CEO. The company calls its long-term thesis 'Earth 2.0': if economic activity moves into space, infrastructure will be needed to move, inspect, maintain, repair, refuel and assemble assets in orbit. InspeCity describes itself as India's first vertically integrated life-extension platform, developing propulsion, robotics, sensing and rendezvous, proximity operations and docking (RPOD) technologies in-house.

The company has split satellite life extension into named building blocks. RAMA (Remotely Actuated Motorized Arm) is a multi-degree-of-freedom robotic arm with integrated sensors for targeted repairs and diagnostics on client satellites. CHAKSU (Comprehensive AI-enabled satellite-tracking Sensor Unit) provides sensing, navigation and proximity-operations tracking. SPARSH (Self-aligning Port for Autonomous Refueling and Satellite Housekeeping) is a cooperative docking and propellant-transfer interface. GITA (Green Impulse TrAnsmitter) is a refuellable, high-thrust green propulsion system. These combine into progressively more capable spacecraft: RIG (Remote Inspection and Guidance), VEDA (Vehicle for life-Extension and Deorbiting Activities), an autonomous in-space servicing architecture meant to extend satellite lifetimes, and SAMA (Space Based Maintenance Asset). The company's roadmap lists development of GITA, RAMA, CHAKSU and VEDA in 2023-2025, commercialisation of GITA and VEDA in 2026-2028, and development of a larger platform called AYODHYA from 2029.

InspeCity has won challenges under India's iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) programme, which it credits with early institutional validation and contract wins. In May 2025 it announced a $5.6 million seed round led by Ashish Kacholia, with participation from Speciale Invest, Shastra VC, Antler India, DeVC, MGF Kavachh and Anicut Capital, to space-qualify its technologies within 12 months. On 27 August 2026 it announced a pre-Series A round of ₹100 crore (about $10.5 million) led by Speciale Invest and Ashish Kacholia, with Antler Elevate, Antler India, Manish Gandhi, Shastra VC and others. The company says this funding supports four in-orbit missions over the next 12-18 months under its RIG-X, VEDA-X and SAMA-X roadmap, which will qualify its propulsion, sensing, autonomous operations, robotics, docking and refuelling capabilities. It also plans to scale manufacturing and commercial delivery of GITA thrusters and RIG-based inspection offerings. In July 2025 InspeCity and Orbital Lasers published a joint white paper on combining space laser and robotics technologies, and the company reports collaborations with space ecosystems in Taiwan and Japan.

For the RobotToday directory, InspeCity belongs in the on-orbit servicing segment as an early-stage developer of a robotic servicer that combines its own manipulator, AI-based tracking sensor, docking and refuelling port, and propulsion. As of October 2026, its servicing hardware is moving from ground validation to planned in-orbit demonstration missions.
