Heron Tech is the North American operation of Heron Intelligent Equipment, a high-tech metal-connection company specializing in the research, development, and manufacturing of resistance welding, clinching, and self-pierce riveting machinery and welding automation systems. Heron Intelligent Equipment was established in Guangzhou, China in 1991 and has grown to more than 400 employees with a production base spanning roughly 54,000 square meters and regional offices across North America, Asia, and Europe. Principal product development and manufacturing is split between Indianapolis, Indiana in the United States and Guangzhou, China, serving customers throughout the United States, Mexico, and Europe. The company designs and builds best-in-class resistance welders including MFDC spot welders, capacitor-discharge (CDW) projection welders, AC welders, seam welders, and butt welders, alongside flush self-pierce riveting (FSPR) systems and clinching solutions equipped with servo guns and air-oil units. Heron develops its own core technologies such as MFDC, CDW, and FSPR, and manufactures key components in-house including controllers and transformers.

Beyond standalone machines, Heron delivers turnkey automated production lines and robotic welding cells for industries such as automotive parts and components, trucking, compressors, low-voltage electronics, home appliances, and general industrial manufacturing. Its Hi5 Weld Monitor lets operators monitor, visualize, and analyze key welding variables in real time, measuring current, voltage, resistance, displacement, and force through an intuitive color touch-panel interface to ensure consistent production quality. The company positions its equipment to help manufacturers increase productivity, improve resource efficiency, and reduce environmental impact.
