"Spray Less, Grow More."
Israeli-American agtech firm whose AI camera retrofit turns existing boom sprayers into selective weed sprayers, cutting herbicide use by up to 90%.
Greeneye Technology (legal entity Centure Applications Ltd.) develops artificial-intelligence weed management systems that are retrofitted to existing commercial crop sprayers. The company was founded in 2017 in Tel Aviv, Israel, by a team whose founders had worked together for about 15 years since serving in Israeli special forces. It operates from Tel Aviv-Yafo and from a U.S. office at 801 R Street in Lincoln, Nebraska, where it partners with the University of Nebraska. Its CEO is Nadav Bocher.
The core product is a selective spraying system (SSP) built from boom-mounted cameras that image the field at sub-millimetre resolution, with deep-learning models running on board so that no connectivity is required in the field. Each module of the system runs autonomously and is ISOBUS-compatible, and the company states that the system can be fitted to any brand, model or size of commercial sprayer. The system works at travel speeds of up to 25 km/h and supports three detection modes: green-on-brown spraying for pre-plant and post-harvest burndown, green-on-green spraying that separates weeds from crop rows, and species-level weed classification. A proprietary dual-line setup applies contact herbicides only on detected weeds while broadcasting residual herbicides in the same pass. A scouting data platform supports field scouting and herbicide program optimization.
Greeneye reports herbicide reductions of 80 to 90 percent (an average of 88 percent in 2024 communications) and quotes a return on investment of 18 to 24 months depending on farm size. In its 2021 funding announcement the company reported 95.7 percent accuracy for green-on-green detection. Greeneye describes itself as the first company to launch an AI-based precision spraying system commercially in the United States, with commercial launch in 2022 among Midwest corn, soybean and cotton growers.
Funding includes a USD 7 million seed round led by JVP, a USD 22 million round in December 2021 led by JVP with Syngenta Group Ventures, Hyperplane, One Way Ventures, KDT and AGCO, and a USD 20 million round in April 2024 led by Deep Insight with Orbia Ventures, Iron Nation and Eyal Waldman. Other listed investors include Systemiq Capital, 2B Angels, Panache Ventures and Hike Ventures. The company also lists the Israel Innovation Authority among its partners.
