FRAMOS GmbH is a Munich-headquartered embedded vision company founded in 1981, initially as a sensor and imaging component distributor. Over four decades the company evolved into a manufacturer and full-solution provider of embedded vision systems, no longer acting as a distributor. The company employs more than 180 people across offices in Germany (Munich HQ at Tölzer Str. 1, 81379), Italy (Agrate Brianza), Croatia (Čakovec and Zagreb), Canada, and the USA, with distribution partnerships in Taiwan (Edom Technology), Japan (Restar Electronics), and Korea (WJ Corporation).
FRAMOS's core product portfolio includes FSM:GO camera modules (ranging from 0.4 MP to 50 MP+), GMSL cameras for automotive applications, Intel RealSense 3D depth cameras (as an authorised distributor), FRAMOS Industrial 3D cameras, and a wide range of compatible optics and lenses. The company also provides custom camera module design, image quality services, geometric calibration, camera focusing services, and full-scale production support scalable to millions of units in Europe.
The CEO, Dr. Andreas Franz (PhD, Ludwig Maximilian University; studied at MIT and UC Berkeley), has led the company since 2007. FRAMOS holds ISO 9001:2015 certification and complies with RoHS, REACH, and WEEE environmental standards. Certificates of Compliance (CoC) are available per delivery.
Target applications span industrial automation and robotics, drones/UAV (navigation, payload, FPV), automotive ADAS, medical imaging (digital microscopes, scientific instruments), agriculture (sorting, livestock monitoring), and traffic/transportation systems. In 2025, FRAMOS and Restar Corporation established the RESTAR FRAMOS Technologies joint venture to strengthen Sony image sensor and display distribution in Asia-Pacific.
