Force Dimension is a Swiss company founded in 2001 as a spin-off from EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne), headquartered in Nyon, Switzerland. The company develops and manufactures high-precision haptic devices and force-feedback robotic interfaces for teleoperation, surgical robotics, aerospace, and research applications. Their product line includes the omega.x and sigma.7 families, featuring up to seven active degrees of freedom with force, torque, and grasping feedback.
The sigma.7 is the first commercial haptic interface with seven active DOF and is used in bi-manual surgical consoles and space teleoperation. Force Dimension devices have been deployed in NASA space station experiments, the NeuroArm neurosurgical robot system, and advanced academic research platforms worldwide.
