Atlanta public safety company making ALPR cameras, gunshot detection, and the US-built Alpha DFR drone; serves 5,000+ communities and 4,500+ agencies.
Flock Safety was founded in 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia by Garrett Langley (CEO), Paige Todd, and Matt Feury, all Georgia Tech alumni. Langley started the company after becoming a property crime victim in Atlanta where police were unable to assist due to lack of evidence. The company is headquartered at 1170 Howell Mill Rd NW, Suite 210, Atlanta, Georgia 30318, and also operates a 97,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Georgia.
Flock Safety designs, manufactures, and operates a portfolio of public safety hardware and software products. Its core product is the Flock Falcon, a fixed automated license plate recognition (ALPR) camera that captures vehicle data including license plate number, make, color, and distinctive features such as roof racks or bumper stickers. As of 2025, Flock's camera network covered more than 5,000 communities across 49 US states, performing over 20 billion vehicle scans per month. The company held contracts with over 4,500 law enforcement agencies and 1,000 businesses.
Flock's product portfolio also includes the Condor gunshot detection and audio monitoring system, AI-powered video surveillance cameras, and FlockOS, a real-time crime center software platform that integrates all sensor data, supports investigative workflows, and enables agency-to-agency data sharing across the network.
In October 2024, Flock acquired Aerodome, a manufacturer of drones for law enforcement, to expand into the drone-as-first-responder market. In October 2025, Flock unveiled Alpha, its first internally designed and US-assembled NDAA-compliant DFR quadcopter. The Alpha features a top speed of 60 mph, up to 45 minutes of flight time, and cameras capable of reading a license plate from 2,000 feet. The aircraft carries a parachute for operation over populated areas and uses four cellular modems with 15 antennas for extended-range connectivity. A dual battery-swapping dock allows readiness for flight again in under 90 seconds. Alpha integrates with FlockOS and the company's ALPR, gunshot detection, and crash audio detection sensors.
Flock Safety employed over 900 people as of 2024. Total funding raised exceeds $275 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Greenoaks Capital, Bedrock Capital, YCombinator, Matrix Partners, and Founders Fund. As of April 2026, the company was valued at approximately $8.4 billion. Flock Safety has also acquired Uniform Sierra Aerospace as part of its drone expansion strategy.
