"Outsmart the threat"
Rostock-based FLANQ builds the Q-RECON unmanned surface vessel family and AUVs for European navies, rebranded from Subsea Europe Services in 2025.
FLANQ is a maritime defence technology company headquartered at Alter Hafen Sud 3 in Rostock, Germany, with a second office in Halstenbek. It operates as the maritime-security and defence brand of Subsea Europe Services, a company that has delivered hardware, software and services to navies and defence partners since 2019; FLANQ was unveiled in stealth at the Euronaval exhibition in Paris in November 2024 and launched publicly as its own brand in January 2025. The company builds unmanned surface vessels (USVs), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and mission-control software for European navies and coast guards. Its flagship Q-RECON USV family spans five hull sizes: the 1-metre expendable Q-RECON 2 for short-duration surveillance or strike missions; the 2.43-metre, two-person-operated Q-RECON 8 for covert reconnaissance; the 4-metre Q-RECON 13, rated for 200 kg of payload and speeds up to 15 knots in littoral waters; the 5.8-metre long-range Q-RECON 18; and the long-endurance Q-RECON 24, rated for up to 3,000 nautical miles of range and 2,000 kg of payload. Alongside the USVs, FLANQ produces autonomous underwater vehicles including NEMOSENS, a micro-AUV rated to 300 metres with up to 8 hours of endurance; COMET, a 155 mm-diameter man-portable AUV rated to 250 metres with 20-hour endurance; SEMA, a reusable anti-submarine-warfare training target; and A.IKANBILIS, a hybrid AUV/ROV used for port security and hull inspection. Command and control runs on the company's Q-MIND autonomy software (mission planning, vehicle control and secure data analysis) and Q-KONTROL payload-integration software. Sensor and payload products include the Q-TRACK underwater tracking system, Q-NAV navigation for GNSS-denied environments, Q-MAP imaging sonar, Q-OBSERVER gyro-stabilised visible/thermal cameras, the NIKA anti-submarine-warfare sensor, and the ORKA UAS aerial payload that extends a USV's sensor reach. Logistics accessories include the Q-LRS launch-and-recovery system, the Q-SWAP rapid battery-swap module (about one minute per swap), and the Q-FIT universal hull-mounting kit. In July 2026, FLANQ was named a maritime technology and mission-software provider for the Ranger autonomous vessel program. The company also offers operator training, in-service support and maintenance, custom engineering, and system integration with existing naval assets for defence customers across Europe.
