Korean maker of FD-Series high-torque-density servo motors and robot joint actuators for humanoid, cobot, quadruped and wearable robots
Faraday Dynamics is a South Korean actuator and servo motor developer founded in 2020 by Chang Han-tteut (장한뜻), a mechanical engineering professor at Incheon National University, who is registered as CEO. It is based in Songdo, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, and reported 25 employees as of August 2026.
Its FD-Series servo motors and robot joint actuators are built around high torque density. The company substitutes cobalt-iron magnets for the silicon-iron used in conventional servo motors and concentrates the magnetic field directionally to raise torque per unit mass, which it says allows smaller and lighter joints at equivalent performance, longer battery life and steadier motion in mobile and wearable robots. Motor, reducer and controller are all designed and built in-house, which the company contrasts with Korean peers that make reducers and import motors. Product lines cover quasi-direct-drive and direct-drive actuators and accessories, sized from hip and shoulder down to finger joints of humanoid robots, and also applied to collaborative, quadruped, wearable and logistics robots. Custom actuators are built to customer-specified dimensions and torque.
An undisclosed seed round was announced in March 2024 with POSTECH Holdings, Big Bang Angels and Kingo Spring, after selection for POSCO's Idea Marketplace in 2023. Korean media reported in June 2026 that the company was raising about KRW 25 billion from Premier Partners, HB Investment and other managers; that round is press-reported rather than company-confirmed. Management told the Korea Times at CES 2026 that 2025 sales more than doubled over 2024 and that signed contracts point to over 1,500% sales growth in 2027 versus 2026. No customers are named publicly. The company exhibited at CES 2026 and NextRise 2026 in Seoul and plans to add mass-production capacity over three years.
