"Built different, built for U.S. operators"
US agricultural spray drone maker in Michigan, a business unit of EXEDY Globalparts, building the AYRE CX with a 15-gallon tank and RTK guidance.
Exedy Drones is an agricultural drone brand based in Van Buren Township, Michigan, that designs, assembles and supports crop-spraying drones in the United States. It is a business unit of EXEDY Globalparts Corporation, the US arm of the Japanese EXEDY group, a supplier best known for automotive clutches and torque converters. The EXEDY group began developing small drone propellers and motors in the late 2010s and in 2023 invested in the Turkish agricultural drone company Baibars; by 2024 it had concluded there was a business case for a US-built spray drone, and the drone manufacturing line was set up in a converted prototype build facility in Michigan.
The company's flagship product is the AYRE CX spray drone. Specifications include a 15-gallon (56.8 L) liquid tank, a spray width of up to 40 ft, a variable flow rate of 0.5 to 12.7 gal/min, a maximum speed of 31 mph, wind resistance up to 39.3 ft/s, a 34Ah LiPo battery, centrifugal nozzles, RTK centimeter-level positioning, terrain-following and obstacle radar, and an IP67-rated body. The aircraft performs automated takeoff, spraying and landing, and a dry-material spreader payload is offered. Exedy also supplies two software tools: a Ground Control Station (GCS) controller application for field operation and Drone Data Manager (DDM) for managing data across devices.
Exedy positions its drones as a US-engineered and US-supported alternative to imported spray drones, stressing FAA and FCC compliance and domestic parts supply. Company representatives have stated that most parts are sourced in the US, with batteries, motors and handheld remotes the hardest components to localize, and that each new release is intended to carry more US content until the drone is fully US-made. Prototype test flights over corn in Tuscola County, Michigan, took place in August 2025, and sales were planned to start in January 2026.
Dealer development and the nationwide dealer and service network are handled with AcuSpray, a Michigan drone application company, and American Autonomy has been named as a software partner. The company also runs a dealer recruitment program, a support center and a parts store.
