"Humanoids that care."
Tokyo startup behind OpenArm, a fully open-source 7-DOF bimanual humanoid arm for physical AI research, and Ena, a humanoid for care facilities.
Enactic, Inc. is a Tokyo robotics startup that develops OpenArm, a fully open-source humanoid robot arm for physical AI research, and Ena, a humanoid robot for nursing-care facilities. The company was founded in July 2025. Its registered headquarters is at 1-22-5 Yotsuya, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, and its robot lab is in the Daiichi Denpa Building in Sotokanda, Chiyoda-ku, in the Akihabara area. Its tagline is Humanoids that care, and it states that it builds humanoids for care settings first.
OpenArm is a human-scale bimanual arm platform sized to match a person about 160 to 165 cm tall. The current OpenArm 2.0, launched in May 2026, has 7 degrees of freedom per arm plus a parallel gripper with an in-hand camera, backdrivable joints with mechanical limits on every axis, aluminium and stainless steel construction, and a CAN-FD control bus. The documentation gives a payload of 4.1 kg nominal and 6.0 kg peak in the worst posture. CNX Software reports a reach of 606 mm, about 5.5 kg per arm, eight Damiao motors per arm, gripper opening up to 88 mm and a 1 kHz control loop, with Intel RealSense cameras supported. Hardware CAD is released under CERN-OHL-S-2.0 and most software under Apache 2.0, and CAD, firmware, control code and simulation tools are all public on GitHub. OpenArm is offered as a DIY kit or a pre-built unit through certified manufacturers such as WowRobo and RT Corporation, with a complete bimanual system cited at about 6,500 US dollars.
The OpenArm repository was created in September 2024, the first OpenArm 01 was open-sourced in July 2025 and assembled units became available worldwide in October 2025. The model was integrated into NVIDIA Isaac Lab in December 2025 and Hugging Face LeRobot added OpenArm support in February 2026. The ecosystem now includes OpenArm KER, a motorless leader arm with the same kinematics used for teleoperation and data collection, and OpenArm Cell, a standardised evaluation enclosure built on MISUMI aluminium profiles with a motorised lift, calibration jig, light curtains and an emergency stop, shown at NVIDIA GTC 2026.
Ena is the company's humanoid care robot, designed to take over peripheral tasks in understaffed care homes such as collecting meal trays, tidying rooms and wiping tables, so that care workers can spend more time with residents. Enactic says it has partnerships with more than 90 care providers. In June 2026 it announced what it called Japan's first practical validation of the NVIDIA GR00T N1.7 robot foundation model in nursing care, using OpenArm 2.0 as the real-machine evaluation platform together with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, Cosmos world models, DGX H100 training and Jetson Thor edge inference. The company is also part of the NVIDIA Cosmos Coalition. For the RobotToday landscape Enactic belongs in the wheeled humanoid and dual-arm segment as the developer of the OpenArm open hardware platform.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Fully open-source human-scale bimanual robot arm with 7-DOF backdrivable arms, parallel gripper with in-hand camera and CAN-FD control, sold as kit or assembled.
Motorless leader arm with the same joint layout and link lengths as OpenArm for 1:1 teleoperation and robot data collection.
Standardised OpenArm evaluation enclosure on MISUMI aluminium profiles with motorised Z-lift, calibration jig, light curtains and e-stop.
Humanoid care robot for nursing facilities that collects meal trays, tidies rooms and wipes tables to free up care staff.
