"Expert du pliage de polymères"
Nantes firm founded 2019 making origami-folded polymer bellows and SCARA protection kits, offered as an official option on Staubli robots.
Eclore Actuators is a French manufacturer of folded polymer bellows, based in Nantes, whose main market is protective covers for industrial robots and linear motion equipment. Its technology folds industrial polymers in patterns inspired by origami, producing bellows that compress far more than conventional moulded rubber or silicone designs. Founder Pierre Gautier-Le Boulch encountered folding techniques applied to space propulsion during a university exchange in Seoul, built a first automated folding machine on his return to France, and turned his final-year engineering project into the company in 2019. It operates as Eclore Actuators SAS with share capital of EUR 124,070.
The core product is a range of cylindrical protective bellows. The standard EPBL series comes in outer diameters of 35, 50, 70 and 100 mm, with adapters and custom builds extending the catalogue from 35 to 300 mm outer diameter and strokes from a few millimetres to over 900 mm. Eclore rates the bellows at 10 million compression and extension cycles at three cycles per second, quotes a maximum extended-to-compressed ratio of 20:1 and an operating range of -40 to +80 degrees Celsius, and says the copolymer resists abrasion, chemicals, UV, chips and high-pressure washing. Typical uses are pneumatic cylinder rods, linear axes, ball screws and special machines. Flat bellows and fixing accessories such as adapters, junction rings and flanges complete the protection line, and the bellows are made to measure on request.
For robots, Eclore sells a SCARA protection kit that covers the upper and lower parts of the arm including the vertical screw, with a sealed rotary bearing, an 8 mm push-in air intake and three 6 mm pass-throughs as standard. Kits are listed for SCARA models from ABB, Denso, Epson, FANUC, KUKA, Omron, Yamaha and Yaskawa, for example the FANUC SR-6iA and SR-20iA and the Epson GX8. Three materials are offered: a black PA 12 grade for dusty and abrasive settings, a blue FDA-compliant PA 12 grade for food, pharmaceutical and cleanroom use, and a grey PA 11 ESD grade for electronics. The bellows are stated to be made without PFAS.
In 2026 Staubli made Eclore's custom bellows an official option on its robot range, including the TS2 SCARA series, after a two-year collaboration in which prototypes were strength- and fatigue-tested in Staubli laboratories; the bellows were first shown on Staubli equipment at Interpack in Dusseldorf in May 2026. Customer logos on the Eclore site include FANUC, Yaskawa, Yamaha Motor and the French research agency CNRS. Beyond robotics, the company lists defence, space, aeronautics, marine, agricultural and construction machinery, and material handling as application areas. A level and angle compensator, a lifting tube and a suction-cup robot gripper are announced as upcoming products. Eclore has been supported by regional and national innovation programmes including France 2030 and the Pays de la Loire region, and its listed awards include i-Nov, Start West and Start Innovation.
