Crewline is a US construction robotics company, based in San Francisco, that retrofits existing heavy equipment with an autonomy kit to make it self-driving for earthworks and grading projects. Rather than selling new machines, Crewline installs a fully reversible kit on a contractor's own equipment in about one hour with no permanent modifications, then operates the equipment under a fixed monthly rate per machine with no upfront cost. The kit is shipping today on smooth and padfoot vibratory drum rollers compatible with brands including Caterpillar, Bomag, Hamm, Volvo, and CASE, with autonomy for dozers, rock trucks, and excavators in development and dozers slated to ship through 2027. Machines run themselves for standard repetitive work while remote operators step in when needed, backed by 24/7 monitoring, field service, spare parts, and on-site staff.
Crewline positions its service for mid-to-large earthworks sites of 10 or more acres across commercial, residential, data center, logistics, solar, and infrastructure projects, citing customer-reported outcomes of 2.7x more output with existing crews, 50% fewer safety incidents, and under 5% machine idle time. The platform integrates with Trimble, Topcon, Leica, and Agtek site-model workflows. In its company blog, Crewline announced a 7.1 million dollar seed round to address operator labor shortages in the excavation and grading industry.
