Los Angeles defense-tech firm building VANQUISH PRIME and ASTRIA distributed radars plus VESPID low-cost drone interceptors; raised $1B since its 2022 founding.
CHAOS Industries, Inc. is a U.S. defense technology company that designs and manufactures radar, sensor, effector and network systems for detecting, tracking and defeating drones and other aerial threats. It was founded in 2022 and is headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Diego and London; its website also lists Amman and Riyadh. Co-founder John Tenet is CEO and co-founder Dr. Bo Marr is CTO. CHAOS says it builds its systems at its own U.S. facilities.
Its products are connected through what the company calls Coherent Distributed Networks (CDN), a distributed, multistatic sensing architecture in which transmitters and receivers are physically separated. The main sensor is VANQUISH PRIME, an expeditionary active electronically scanned array (AESA) 3D radar with 360-degree coverage for short- to long-range surveillance and tracking. CHAOS says a two-person team can set it up in under an hour. The radar tracks Group 1-3 drones, aircraft, helicopters and cruise missiles, and the company reports more than 15,000 hours of tracking operations with it. Separating the transmitter from the receiver is meant to make the system harder to target. ASTRIA is an extended long-range tracking radar for layered air and missile defense of critical infrastructure and regions. Its stated targets range from UAS and fighters to cruise missiles and hypersonic weapons, and a mobile version is in design. Both radars work with the TAK, FAAD and Lattice command-and-control systems and output CoT, ASTERIX and SAPIENT data.
In October 2026 CHAOS introduced VESPID, a family of very low-cost interceptors against Group 1-3 UAVs and one-way attack drones. VESPID Mk 0 is man-portable, weighs under 10 lb, cruises at 100 m/s and uses fire-and-forget engagement. VESPID Mk 1 is a tube-launched variant that weighs under 12 lb, cruises at 150 m/s and is compatible with the ISS Aerospace HAL10 multitube launcher. It is cued by CHAOS radars. The company expects an initial production capacity of 12,000 interceptors a year, with a manufacturing setup that can expand to 50,000.
In July 2026 CHAOS acquired Atropos Group, a developer of autonomous unmanned aircraft. The deal created a CHAOS Aerospace Division led by Atropos co-founder Vince Dutcavich and adds airframe production toward a mobile platform that combines sensing and effects. Also in July 2026, CHAOS announced a partnership with Finland's Insta to integrate VANQUISH PRIME into Insta's AirC2 air-defense command-and-control system, its first agreement with a European technology partner. Coverage of its Series D noted a $1.9 million U.S. Air Force award to adapt ASTRIA as an instrumentation radar. CHAOS says its counter-drone radars are deployed to protect critical infrastructure in the United States and with partners in the Middle East.
CHAOS raised a $275 million Series C in May 2025. In November 2025 it raised a $510 million Series D led by Valor Equity Partners with continued participation from 8VC and Accel, at a reported valuation of about $4.5 billion. The company states it has raised $1 billion in total. LinkedIn lists 201-500 employees.
