Beijing AI-Robotics (Beijing Da Ai Robotics Technology Co., Ltd.) is a Beijing, China-based company that develops exoskeleton robots for medical rehabilitation and mobility assistance. It was founded in 2016 by Shuai Mei, a professor at Beihang University's School of Biomedical Engineering, to commercialize exoskeleton research she began around 2010. The company is headquartered in Beijing's Yizhuang Economic-Technological Development Area (E-Town).
The company's exoskeletons use sensors, actuators, and controllers to support natural gait patterns during rehabilitation training. Its lower-limb rehabilitation exoskeletons, sold under lines including the Shenxing series, target patients with spinal cord injury, stroke, and other neurological motor impairments, while the Aijia line is a home-use rehabilitation exoskeleton priced under 100,000 RMB for patients moving from clinical to home care. In June 2018, the company's exoskeleton became the first in China to receive medical device registration from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for clinical rehabilitation use.
Beijing AI-Robotics' devices are deployed in more than 100 hospitals nationwide, including Peking Union Medical College Hospital and PLA General Hospital, and the company states its systems have supported rehabilitation training for close to 10,000 patients with lower-limb dysfunction.
