Asensus Surgical, formerly known as TransEnterix, is a US-based surgical robotics company founded in 2006 and headquartered in Morrisville, North Carolina. The company developed the Senhance Surgical Robotic System, a multi-port robotic platform enabling minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures with haptic feedback and eye-tracking camera control. Asensus also developed the Intelligent Surgical Unit (ISU), a computer vision platform designed to digitize the surgeon-patient interface through augmented intelligence.
In August 2024, Karl Storz SE & Co. KG completed the acquisition of Asensus Surgical, which became a wholly owned subsidiary. The company had collaborated with Karl Storz through its VentureOne robotics unit prior to the acquisition. Senhance received CE marking and FDA 510(k) clearance for use in multiple laparoscopic procedures.
