Budapest startup that weaves tendon-driven robot hands and bodies in one automated run with its 3D Tissue Braiding process; raised a $7.2M pre-seed in 2026.
Allonic is a Hungarian robotics hardware startup headquartered in Budapest that has developed an automated manufacturing process for dexterous, tendon-driven robot bodies. The company's website carries the copyright line Allonic Inc., and press coverage of its funding refers to plans for a US headquarters alongside its Hungarian base. The leadership team listed on the site is Benedek Tasi (co-founder and CEO), David Pelyva (CTO) and David Hollo (CPO); press reports put the team at about 15 people, including design, machine-vision, electronics, computation and R&D engineers.
The core technology is called 3D Tissue Braiding. Instead of assembling a robot hand or arm from many machined parts, Allonic's machines produce a scaffold or skeletal core, braid soft load-bearing "tissues" of fibres and elastics around it with tendons, pulley paths, guides and rigid support elements built in, and then connect actuators. The output is a single monolithic composite structure produced in one automated run. Users configure a design and Allonic's software converts it into production code for the braiding machine, in a way the company compares to slicing for 3D printing. Allonic says the approach cuts production time for such parts from weeks to minutes, and that its second-generation machinery is five times faster and half the size of the first, with three times the yarn-count resolution.
The company's demonstrator is the Allonic Hand MK2, a biomimetic robot hand whose structure follows human anatomy and combines rigid internal supports with woven soft structures. Humanoid Guide lists it as a prototype that is not for sale; no official degree-of-freedom count, weight or payload figures have been published. Allonic says hands are "just the beginning" and that it aims to become a manufacturing backbone for robot makers, potentially producing arms, torsos and other manipulators. It completed a first pilot project in electronics manufacturing after unveiling the technology in 2025 and reports inbound interest from humanoid robot developers and large consumer-technology companies, including US big-tech firms; no customers are named.
In February 2026 Allonic announced a $7.2 million pre-seed round, described as the largest pre-seed financing in Hungary to date. The round was led by Visionaries Club with Day One Capital, Prototype, SDAC Ventures, TinyVC and RoboStrategy participating, plus more than a dozen angel investors from AI organisations including OpenAI and Hugging Face.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Biomimetic tendon-driven robot hand produced as one braided composite structure with integrated tendons and pulley paths; technology demonstrator, not for sale.
Automated machines and design-to-code software that braid soft tissues, tendons and guides over a skeletal core to build robot hands, arms and manipulators.
