Ajile Light Industries is a Canadian developer and manufacturer of high-speed 3D imaging and digital micromirror device (DMD) control technology based in Ottawa, Ontario. Its flagship DepthScan platform is a structured-light 3D camera that captures up to 4 million full-color 3D points per scan in roughly 400 ms (2.5 Hz), reaches 30 fps at full ROI and 100+ fps with reduced ROI in high-speed mode, and delivers metrology-grade accuracy verified per VDI/VDE 2634 Part 2 (sphere-spacing accuracy in the tens of microns at 500 mm working distance). The DepthScan family includes the flagship DepthScan 3D, an autofocus DepthScan-AF model covering working distances from 25 cm to 500 cm, and configurable 3D inspection cells deployable offline, beside-line or inline. Systems offer full-color and 840 nm NIR imaging, LED-based structured light (no laser eye-safety hardware required), multi-camera stitching, robot-space calibration, ROS integration, and a bidirectional PolyWorks plugin so inspection runs inside existing QC workflows.
The company also supplies OEM and R&D DMD products, including the AJD-4500 scientific controller and AJP-4500 projector for the 0.45-inch DMD (912x1140 micromirrors), with full GUI and SDK, per-frame timing/lighting control, and low-latency I/O triggering. All software runs on Windows and Linux (Ubuntu). Hardware and software are designed and built internally, enabling broad customization. Customers and research users cited include Lockheed Martin, GE Appliances, Panasonic, Denso Wave, MIT, and NTU Singapore.
Applications span quality inspection, metrology, machine vision, high-speed inline inspection, bin picking and robotic guidance.
