Portuguese robotics startup spun out of YDreams Group, making smartphone-augmented consumer robotic devices including the SmartLamp desktop companion robot.
YDreams Robotics was founded in 2012 as a spinoff of the YDreams Group, a Portuguese interactive technology company established in 2000. Headquartered in Fundao, Portugal, with offices also in Lisbon, YDreams Robotics focused on pervasive robotics—embedding robotic capabilities into everyday consumer objects by leveraging smartphone hardware. The company's philosophy was to make personal robotics accessible and affordable, in contrast to expensive purpose-built robots.
Its flagship product was the SmartLamp, a desktop lamp that used the smartphone camera and sensors to deliver face-tracking during video calls, motion-detection home surveillance, hands-free office assistance, and interactive personality behaviors compatible with both Android and iOS. The broader YDreams Group developed complementary technology arms: YVision, a.NET rapid-prototyping framework for natural user interfaces and augmented reality; and YRobotics, a dedicated robotics R&D division. The company occupied the intersection of consumer electronics, augmented reality, and robotics.
As of 2026, PitchBook lists YDreams Robotics as out of business; the parent YDreams Informatica entity operated until at least 2015.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
