XMachines is an Indian robotics and AI company founded in 2017 and based at the XMachines Research Lab in the AIP Building of ICRISAT in Patancheru, near Hyderabad, Telangana. It was set up to address the technology gap in Indian agriculture and first developed multipurpose AI robots for precision farming before expanding into other sectors. In 2022 the company began exporting, including to Europe.
Its agricultural robots work with specialised implements for planting, weed control and pest control, with the aim of reducing chemical use and labour. Other product lines are autonomous mobile robots for manufacturing material handling, described as capable of moving 300 kg between points in a facility and still in development, outdoor robots for solar-plant management, mowing robots, and multi-terrain mobile platforms with software and simulation tools for researchers. Organisations it has worked with include UNDP and Caterpillar, and its investors and partners include ISB, IIIT Hyderabad, Murugappa Group, T-Hub, BIRAC, AgHub and ITIC.
