The Wearable Robotics Association (WearRA) is an industry association headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, founded in 2015 to serve entrepreneurs, businesses, researchers and academics working in wearable robotics and exoskeleton technology. It is a separate organization from the Italian company Wearable Robotics S.r.l. of Pisa, Italy, despite the similar name.
WearRA runs technical and regulatory committees that produce guidance documents for exoskeleton manufacturers, an annual Innovation Challenge that has awarded 40,000 dollars in prizes to students and startups, and a podcast covering exoskeleton, soft-robot and human-augmentation developments. It maintains a public exoskeleton device catalog listing more than 250 products and an industry directory, and it has organized or collaborated on 13 conferences focused on wearable robotics. Coverage spans industrial ergonomics, clinical rehabilitation, military augmentation and consumer wellness applications.
Its flagship event, WearRAcon, is held annually in the United States and brings together manufacturers, end users, payers, researchers, regulators and investors. The association also co-organizes WearRAcon Europe alongside the A+A Safety Technology Trade Fair in Dusseldorf, Germany. Membership includes device manufacturers, healthcare systems, industrial employers, standards bodies and academic institutions.
