Wandelbots GmbH
"Software-Defined Automation for Industrial Robots"
Dresden robotics software firm; NOVA platform enables vendor-agnostic programming and scaling of industrial robot fleets.
Wandelbots GmbH is a robotics software company headquartered in Dresden, Germany, founded in 2017 by Georg Puschel, Maria Piechnick, and Christian Piechnick. The company's mission is to make industrial robot programming universally accessible through software, reducing the cost, complexity, and time required to deploy and scale automation across manufacturing operations.
Wandelbots' flagship offering is the NOVA Platform, a vendor-agnostic Physical AI platform comprising three integrated components: NOVA OS (an operating system for industrial robots), NOVA Cloud (a cloud layer for fleet management and multi-site deployment), and the NOVA Developer Portal (APIs and SDK for custom workflow development). The platform supports a closed-loop cycle of Sense, Think, Act, and Improve — capturing live production data from robots, sensors, and machines; simulating and optimizing workflows in a digital twin environment; deploying validated logic to production; and feeding operational data back to continuously improve performance.
NOVA is robot-brand-agnostic, supporting hardware from Universal Robots, Yaskawa, and other major manufacturers. Customers include Volkswagen, Schaeffler, Bayer, SHL Medical, Fränkische, and the Max Planck Institute. The platform enables programming and deployment up to 20 times faster and up to ten times more cost-effectively than traditional robot programming methods.
The company is headquartered at Tharandter Straße 33, 01159 Dresden, Germany, and employs approximately 108–130 people across multiple continents. Wandelbots has raised approximately USD 123–126 million in funding across six rounds from investors including Insight Partners, Microsoft, and Next47. The company maintains active LinkedIn and YouTube channels, and its developer documentation is published at docs.wandelbots.io.
