Its Department of Mechanical Engineering hosts the MECO (Motion Estimation, Control and Optimization) Research Team, part of the Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics (RAM) division, which focuses on modeling, estimation, identification, analysis, and optimal control of mechatronic systems. The MECO group applies numerical and convex optimization methods to motion control problems in industrial and robotic systems, and is a member of Flanders Make, the strategic research center for the Flemish manufacturing industry.
