Polish robotics startup that created Turtle Rover, an open-source Raspberry Pi-based outdoor rover platform built for research and education.
Turtle Rover, developed by Kell ideas Ltd. (operating as Fictionlab sp. z o.o.) in Wroclaw, Poland, is an open-source, Raspberry Pi-powered outdoor mobile robot inspired by Mars rover designs. The company was founded by roboticists from Wroclaw University of Technology who competed in the University Rover Challenge from 2013. Turtle Rover features a waterproof chassis using rocker-bogie suspension similar to NASA's Curiosity rover, a full HD camera, Wi-Fi control up to 200 m, a robotic arm, and support for ROS (Robot Operating System).
The platform weighs 6.5 kg, accommodates up to 5 kg of additional equipment, and is priced from USD 1,349. The product was later rebranded as Leo Rover. Turtle Rover targets robotics researchers, educators, and developers seeking a durable, programmable field robot without building from scratch.
