TR-Electronic GmbH is a German manufacturer of position-measurement and automation sensor products, founded in 1983 in Villingen-Schwenningen and headquartered in Trossingen, Baden-Wurttemberg, since 1987. The company remains an independent specialist in encoders, linear measurement devices and compact drives for industrial automation.
Its product range includes absolute and incremental rotary encoders, magnetostrictive linear encoders for non-contact position measurement on hydraulic cylinders, glass-scale linear encoders, laser distance-measurement devices, and compact drives used as actuators or process drives. The C58 absolute rotary encoder family, launched in 2002, remains among its longest-running lines, alongside models such as the CR-582 double encoder and the IE58/IH58 series. TR-Electronic also builds SIL-rated and ATEX-certified variants for functional safety and hazardous areas, and develops custom sensors and control modules to VDMA 66413 standards.
The company employs more than 300 people worldwide, with subsidiaries and sales partners across Europe, North America and Asia, including a China subsidiary opened in Beijing in 2010. Its encoders and linear sensors are used in storage and logistics, printing and paper, metal and wood processing, plastics processing, packaging, renewable energy and event-technology applications.
