SPINEA, s.r.o. is a precision engineering company founded in 1994 and headquartered in Haniska, District of Prešov, Slovakia (Ku Magašu 702/3, 080 01 Prešov). The company was established based on a Slovak engineer's invention and has grown into producers of high-precision cycloidal reduction gears. With 501–1,000 employees, SPINEA is the only European manufacturer of high-precision reduction gears for robotics, competing directly against three Japanese counterparts in the global market.
In June 2022, SPINEA was fully acquired by The Timken Company, a US-based global leader in structural bearings and power transmission; Timken continues to market products under the SPINEA brand and retains Slovakia as the primary development and manufacturing center. SPINEA's flagship product line, TwinSpin®, integrates a high-precision cycloidal reduction gear with a radial-axial bearing in a single compact unit, delivering near-zero backlash, minimal vibration, and low noise. Product variants include the T Series (cylindrical housing), Flange Series (flanged housing), hollow-shaft versions, and the M Series (miniature, starting at size TS 50).
The DriveSpin® actuator product line combines a TwinSpin® reducer with an AC servomotor into a single integrated unit, enabling simplified machine design. TwinSpin® gearboxes are used in industrial robots, collaborative robots, machine tools, medical and surgical robots, dental milling machines, tube benders, welding machines, packaging machinery, paper machines, radar and camera positioning systems, and solar panel tracking. Notably, TwinSpin® gearboxes are deployed at CERN's particle accelerator facilities, where their extreme positioning accuracy is critical to proper functioning of the experiments.
SPINEA received its first ISO 9001 certificate from RWTUV in December 1999 and has subsequently maintained certification through ISO 9001:2000, ISO 9001:2009, and the current EN ISO 9001:2016 standard.
