SolarCleano

SolarCleano is a Luxembourg-based robotics company founded in 2017 by Pol Duthoit and Christophe Timmermans. The company designs and manufactures a range of autonomous and semi-autonomous solar panel cleaning robots, combining mechanical engineering expertise with deep experience in photovoltaic plant maintenance. SolarCleano's robots are operational in more than 100 countries, servicing everything from residential rooftop arrays to utility-scale ground-mounted power plants covering thousands of hectares.

The product lineup spans three levels of automation. At the fully autonomous end, the F1A and B1A robots require zero human intervention during cleaning cycles. The F1A is designed for rooftop and tracker-mounted arrays; it features AI-powered path planning, inter-robot communication, a feel-management system that adjusts brush pressure in real time, and an integrated LED lighting system that enables 24-hour cleaning operations without interruption. The B1A targets ground-mounted utility-scale installations and uses LiDAR sensors combined with onboard AI to adapt automatically to the height and inclination of each panel row, maintaining constant brush pressure while protecting panel surfaces from damage. Both autonomous models run on lithium-ion batteries and can operate unattended for up to ten hours before returning to a charging station.

For operators who prefer a human-guided solution, the L1 is a portable semi-automatic cleaner with 2.45-meter-wide brushes supporting both dry and wet cleaning modes. A single operator can deploy and manage the L1, which achieves cleaning speeds of up to 40 meters per minute and can cover more than 2,000 square meters per hour, making it well suited for medium to large rooftop installations and solar farms where full automation is not yet required.

SolarCleano's technology roadmap emphasizes increasing autonomy, advanced safety integration, and expanded remote-control capabilities. Products are distributed globally through a network of certified resellers and directly to large EPC contractors and independent power producers.
