"Full-stack robotic manipulation for space and defence"
Warsaw startup founded 2024 making tendon-driven actuators and the JOULE tracked dual-arm platform for defence; NATO NCAGE-registered, pre-seed funded.
Si Robotics is a Polish developer of robotic actuation hardware and manipulation platforms aimed at defence, space and other hazardous-environment work. The registered company is SI Robotics Sp. z o.o., based at ul. Kolejowa 15/17 in Warsaw (KRS 0001169097). It was founded in 2024 by Patryk Szymczak and Kajetan Andrzejewski and describes itself as a European robotics company originating in Poland, with core engineering carried out there for European and allied customers.
The technical core is actuation. The company develops brushless DC motors, tendon-driven (bionic) joint modules in which the motor sits away from the joint and transmits force through tendons, remote actuation modules, tendon-driven grippers and motion controllers. It reports having built and validated CANopen-based control architectures, including work on CANopen Space control technology within European Space Agency development activities, and uses hardware-in-the-loop rigs with fault-injection testing. In-house BLDC manufacturing, covering winding, balancing, assembly and test, is described as in development. A separate Sovereign Actuation business unit offers BLDC propulsion for defence and space systems and is linked on the site to Axialtech. Specifications such as torque, mass or speed have not been published for any module.
Its system-level programme is JOULE, a human-scale manipulation platform that pairs a tracked mobility base with two upper-body arms under force-aware, human-supervised control. The company presents JOULE as a concept rather than a fielded product and says it is not a humanoid in the strict sense: teleoperation and assisted control come first, with automation to be layered on from field experience. Intended tasks are ammunition handling, explosive ordnance disposal support, forward logistics and other hazardous manipulation. Earlier investor material described a broader humanoid platform for logistics and manufacturing built on proprietary bionic actuators; the current site positions the company as defence first, selling to defence primes and robotic integrators, with space, underwater and nuclear robotics as further application areas.
Si Robotics states that it is registered in the NATO Codification System as a defence robotics manufacturer under NCAGE code 9CH6H. In July 2025 it announced a pre-seed round led by Sunfish Partners, an early-stage fund based in Berlin and Warsaw, with the amount undisclosed; proceeds were earmarked for bionic actuator development, engineering hires and early prototype manufacturing in Poland. The website also lists ESA, Plug and Play, NVIDIA Inception and the Polish public agencies NCBR, PARP and ARP among its backers and support programmes.
Coverage of military humanoid development in October 2026 discussed JOULE alongside entrants in the U.S. Army xTechHumanoid competition, but no primary source confirms that Si Robotics took part, and it was not among the five winners the Army announced. No customers have been named.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Human-scale tracked platform with two manipulation arms under force-aware, human-supervised control for defence tasks.
Bionic joint modules that drive robot joints remotely through tendons from separately mounted BLDC motors.
CANopen-based motion controllers for the company's actuators, validated with hardware-in-the-loop testing.
Tendon-actuated manipulator grippers for force-aware handling in hazardous environments.
