Company Overview

Sami Robotics is a Quebec agricultural robotics company based in Varennes, near Montreal, building an autonomous harvesting platform for field vegetables. It traded as SAMI Agtech until its rebrand; the old domain samiagtech.com now redirects to samirobotics.com. Pascal Labrecque is chief executive and a co-founder.

Its product is SAMI, a self-propelled platform carrying 12 to 18 robotic arms that work in parallel, each taking under three seconds per vegetable. A vision system decides which heads are ready and leaves the rest, so a field can be picked over several passes rather than cut once, and on-board lighting lets the machine work at night. Beyond cutting, the platform records what it sees, which the company offers as field analysis and harvest-readiness forecasting.

Broccoli is the crop in service: SAMI harvested and sold commercial broccoli in Quebec during the 2025 season. Romaine lettuce is described as close behind, with iceberg lettuce, artichoke and cauliflower in development. The company also states an intention to add weeding, thinning, fertilising and targeted pest control to the same platform, none of which is offered yet.

The company was founded in 2023 as a spin-off from Lapalme Agtech, working with INO and the Centre de robotique et de vision industrielle. Investors include Zone Agtech, Koan Capital and NYA Ventures, with public support from Quebec's MEIE and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. In 2026 it took the first Western Growers Center for Innovation and Technology residency at Reservoir Farms in Salinas, California, giving it a demonstration base in the largest US vegetable region, and was a finalist for Innovator of the Year at the Quebec Agtech Grand Prix.
