Salient Motion, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Torrance, California, designs, manufactures, and supports advanced electromechanical actuation systems for commercial aviation and military defense platforms. The company's software-defined actuation architecture decouples control logic, hardware interfaces, and feedback sensors, enabling drop-in compatibility across linear and rotary actuators and multiple motor types. Core motor control software is developed and certified to DO-178C standards as a modular, reusable library, enabling up to 10x reduction in certification time and cost versus legacy suppliers.
Products include the Cyclone, Dust Devil, and Pulsar motor drives. Salient has partnered with Boeing to certify modular actuators for commercial airliners. The company raised $12M led by Cantos Ventures with participation from Andreessen Horowitz and AE Ventures.
