Romax Viti (SAS Romax Viti) is a French manufacturer of an autonomous electric vineyard robot, based in Mimizan in the Landes department. The company's pitch is a simple autonomous robot that works with the tools growers already own, and its single product is also called Romax Viti.
The robot runs on rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that recharge in 2 hours on a 16 A or 32 A supply, and it can work up to 11 hours per day at 2 to 5 km/h. A tracked chassis spreads its weight of about 1,400 kg (with batteries) to limit soil compaction. The machine is 230 cm long and 170 or 190 cm high, and is built with chassis widths of 90, 110 or 130 cm to suit vine rows from 1.40 m to 2.50 m. Implements attach to a rear three-point hitch (categories 1-2) with 400 kg lift capacity, and the robot provides two hydraulic outlets and a power take-off. Navigation is autonomous using GPS RTK for centimetre-level accuracy; each plot has a virtual boundary and obstacle alerts are sent to the operator's phone. Typical tasks are mechanical weeding, inter-row and under-vine (cavaillon) work, light mulching and soil cultivation. The robot is CE-marked and can be moved on a trailer or in an 11 m3 van.
Owners receive one hour of training for up to three people and pay a monthly subscription that covers the RTK network and software updates. Romax Viti lists financing through loans and leasing with Credit Mutuel, CIC and Credit Agricole, and states that the robot is eligible for regional subsidies. Romax Viti has demonstrated the robot in vineyards including estates in the Medoc.
