Rocket Lab USA, Inc. (NASDAQ: RKLB) is a space company founded in 2006 in New Zealand by Peter Beck and now headquartered in Long Beach, California. It designs, builds, and launches orbital and suborbital vehicles and manufactures spacecraft and satellite components for government and commercial customers.
The company's Electron rocket is a small-lift orbital launch vehicle flown from sites in New Zealand and Virginia, and the HASTE vehicle is a suborbital variant used for hypersonic test flights. Rocket Lab is developing Neutron, a medium-lift reusable rocket with a stated payload capacity of 13 tonnes. On the spacecraft side, the company builds the Photon satellite bus along with star trackers, reaction wheels, separation systems, solar cells, radios, and flight software; more than 1,700 satellites in orbit currently use Rocket Lab-built technology.
Rocket Lab operates manufacturing and mission-operations sites in Virginia, New Mexico, Colorado, Maryland, Toronto, and New Zealand in addition to its Long Beach headquarters. In June 2026, the company agreed to acquire satellite-communications operator Iridium, funding the deal through a $1.94 billion at-the-market equity offering it completed in September 2026 to combine launch, spacecraft manufacturing, and satellite-network operation under one company.
