Robosoft Advanced Robotics Solutions is a French robotics company founded in February 1985 by Vincent Dupourqué in Bidart, in the Basque Country of southwestern France. Operating from the Izarbel technopole, Robosoft is one of Europe's longest-standing developers of autonomous mobile service robots, having pioneered practical applications of autonomous navigation across healthcare, defense, logistics, transportation, and urban cleaning over four decades.
The company's roots trace to INRIA research in the early 1980s, where autonomous mobile platforms were first built from electric wheelchairs. Robosoft commercialized the robuTER in 1986, one of the earliest mobile robots marketed for research and development, ultimately selling several hundred units worldwide. Over subsequent decades, Robosoft built a broad portfolio of mobile platforms under the robu- family: robuCAR (a customizable autonomous ground vehicle used in defense applications including the MINIROC and ENH systems for the French Army), robuWALKER (a robotized intelligent walker developed under the EU AAL-DOMEO project), and Kompaï (a companion and assistance robot for seniors and dependent persons at home).
Kompaï, launched in collaboration with the health and social care sector, features autonomous laser-based navigation, a 3D camera, facial expression display, and a rotating torso on its second generation (Kompaï-2). It is designed for telehealth, medication reminders, and physical assistance. Robosoft also developed CTS (Cybernetic Transport Systems), driverless people-mover vehicles for controlled sites, and glass-roof and floor cleaning robots for facilities management.
The company has participated in numerous European research programs and holds capabilities in indoor laser navigation, GPS/inertial outdoor navigation, fleet supervision software, man-machine interface systems, and remote web control of robots. Its products are designed and manufactured at its Bidart facility. As of 2025, the company has returned to emphasizing its 40-year heritage and continues to offer mobile robot platforms primarily for research, customized service robotics development, and specialized industrial applications.
