Quantum Devices, Inc. (QDI) is a US optoelectronics manufacturer established as a Wisconsin corporation in October 1989 by founder Ron Ignatius, headquartered in Barneveld, Wisconsin. The company grew out of activities in optoelectronics and designs and manufactures application-specific silicon photodiodes, optical encoders and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for commercial, industrial and medical markets.

In 1999 Quantum Devices expanded into encoder manufacturing, and today its QPhase optical encoder line provides rotary motion feedback for servo and motion-control systems used in automation and robotics. Representative products include the QD145 and QR145 series, compact 1.45-inch-diameter bearing encoders housed in conductive carbon-fiber composite for EMI shielding, offering quadrature output with reference pulse and three-phase commutation, configurable 5V RS422A or 5-26V line-driver outputs, and resolutions ranging from 200 to 5000 counts per revolution with hollow-shaft bore options. On the photodiode side, QDI's silicon detectors and LEDs are used in instrumentation for photosynthesis and photobiological research and in biomedical devices such as glucometers (blood-sugar measurement) and pulse oximeters (oxyhemoglobin and pulse-rate measurement). One of the company's most notable developments is LED-based lighting systems serving as the light source for Photodynamic Therapy (PDT), a medical light-therapy treatment. Quantum Devices is a member of the A3 (Association for Advancing Automation) community and serves customers requiring precision motion feedback and custom optoelectronic components across industrial, automation and medical applications.
