Company Overview

QING is a Dutch food automation company headquartered at Cleantech Park Arnhem, Westervoortsedijk 73, in Arnhem, the Netherlands. It was founded on 30 April 2013 (the company notes the date was the first King's Day in the Netherlands, and that the name is pronounced "King"). QING designs AI-driven inspection, sorting and processing systems that combine vision AI, robot handling and its own control software, and delivers them from concept through on-site installation for food producers facing staff shortages and quality variation.

The product line is built around three system families. The Q-See System is a vision-AI inspection system that grades each product on shape, colour, size and defects; it uses one to six cameras, from a 2D top-down view to a full 360-degree multi-angle view, and the company quotes a standard inspection speed of up to 1,500 products per minute. It can be deployed stand-alone for sample checks, in-line beside an existing conveyor, or built into existing machines. The Q-Sort System adds robot handling with application-specific end-of-arm tooling to remove rejected products, with a published processing speed of up to 1,500 products per minute, a rejection capacity of up to 80 products per minute, IP67 protection as standard and IP69K as an option for washdown. The Q-Process System uses 2D and 3D vision with food-grade six-axis robots to cut, core and pit individual products such as lettuce, olives and stone fruit.

All systems run on STAQ ("See, Think, Act by QING"), the company's control platform, which connects cameras, an industrial PC, an HMI, robots and plant systems (PLC, MES and SCADA). QING also sells STAQ as a Technology Package so that OEM machine builders and system integrators can add inspection or sorting to their own lines; AMF Bakery Systems Europe offers it as a module for existing AMF bakery lines, with a working inspection system at the AMF Innovation Centre in Gorinchem.

Published references include Greek fruit processor Agrophoenix, where eight Staubli SCARA robots work with STAQ inspection to remove defective peach halves at roughly 100,000 halves (about 15 tonnes) per hour, with expansion to eight AI systems planned for mid-2026; biscuit maker Bolletje, where a sorting system checks 1,000 biscuits per minute and replaced three FTE of manual inspection per day; and UK machine builder Extractacore, whose iceberg lettuce coring line gained AI and 3D vision while keeping its existing robot, processing one head per second. Named collaboration partners include Staubli, Robovision, KU Leuven, Wageningen University & Research, the World Food Forum, Next Tech Food Factories and an NWO digital twin research project. Target markets are meat and fish, fruit and vegetables, and bakery.
