PVA TePla AG is a German metrology and materials-processing systems manufacturer headquartered in Wettenberg, Hesse. Founded in 1991, the company grew from an original vacuum metallurgy business into a public group listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under ticker TPE. It employs more than 1,000 people worldwide.
The company operates two divisions, Material Solutions and Metrology. Material Solutions builds crystal growing systems using Czochralski, Float Zone, and related methods to produce monocrystalline silicon and silicon carbide ingots for semiconductor and power electronics manufacturers, along with vacuum sintering, diffusion bonding, and brazing equipment. The Metrology division makes wafer inspection tools, including scanning acoustic microscopy, infrared depolarization, and ellipsometry systems for power device and packaging quality control, plus plasma systems for surface activation, cleaning, etching, and coating of semiconductor wafers. Customers span the semiconductor, energy, aerospace and defense, automotive, and medical device industries.
PVA TePla has expanded its metrology portfolio through acquisitions including Munich Metrology GmbH in 2012, JenaWave GmbH in 2013, OKOS in 2020, and DIVE imaging systems GmbH in 2025, and operates production and service locations across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
