Premier Automation is an industrial automation systems integrator founded in December 2001, when engineers Mike Gunniers and Walt Dollard purchased Electro-Mec Automation with an initial staff of 20 people. Headquartered in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, with a second facility in Alpharetta, Georgia opened in October 2019, the company now employs more than 120 people and builds PLC, HMI, and drive control systems for industrial customers in automotive, chemical, energy, food and beverage, metals, oil and gas, and water treatment sectors.
Robotics work covers material handling, palletizing, material removal, custom assembly, dispensing, and robotic welding, the last delivered through a dedicated RobotsWelding.com division. The company holds status as an ABB Robotics Value Provider, FANUC Authorized System Integrator, Lincoln Electric Authorized Robotic Integrator, Siemens Solution Partner, and Rockwell Automation Systems Integrator, and its quality system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 with UL and CE product listings.
In 2015 Premier Automation acquired Pittsburgh-area integrator Industrial Automation and Control, Inc. The company also operates PanelShop.com, an online electrical control panel configuration and ordering platform launched in 2012, and its founders received a regional Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2008.
