IMTS is the largest manufacturing technology trade show in the Western Hemisphere and the premier North American platform for industrial robotics, automation, AI-integrated manufacturing, CNC machining, and advanced production systems.

The 36th edition of IMTS at McCormick Place, Chicago brings together the full ecosystem of North American and global manufacturing — from machine tool builders and industrial robot OEMs to system integrators, controls engineers, and enterprise decision-makers.

For RobotToday's readership, IMTS is particularly significant as the deployment arena for industrial robot applications: collaborative robots on the factory floor, AI-vision guided assembly, welding automation, and supply chain robotics. Major exhibitors traditionally include FANUC America, Yaskawa Motoman, ABB Robotics, KUKA Systems, Universal Robots, and Rockwell Automation, alongside a dense ecosystem of end-of-arm tooling, sensors, and software vendors.

IMTS 2026 is the first IMTS to take place amid the broader Physical AI wave — expect significantly expanded coverage of AI-driven manufacturing intelligence, humanoid robots in industrial context, and digital twin / simulation tools as core show themes.

The Emerging Technology Center (ETC) and educational conference tracks offer curated content on automation strategy, robotics integration, and workforce development — valuable for both technology reporters and practitioners.
