Company Overview

Preferred Robotics, Inc. is a Japanese robotics company founded in 2021 as a spinoff of AI company Preferred Networks, and is part of the Preferred Networks group. Headquartered in Chiyoda City, Tokyo, the company develops and sells compact autonomous mobile robots aimed at homes and commercial environments. Its flagship product, Kachaka, is a small autonomous transport robot that docks beneath dedicated caster-equipped smart shelves and moves them to requested locations, allowing users to summon items via voice commands or a smartphone app; the robot can carry dishes, books, drinks and other items to a table, sofa or other point in the home. Kachaka uses onboard sensors, a camera and AI to map its surroundings, locate people and furniture, plan routes and avoid obstacles such as walls and furniture.

The company also offers Kachaka Pro, a version positioned for commercial settings such as factories, clinics, dental offices and restaurants; Kachaka Pro carries loads up to 30 kg including its shelf, reaches a maximum speed of 800 mm/s, weighs about 12 kg, uses LiDAR with a measurement range up to 12 m, and provides roughly two hours of operation per two-hour charge. The consumer Kachaka is sold with double- or triple-shelf tables and an associated subscription app. Preferred Robotics has additionally co-developed a commercial cleaning robot, HAPiiBOT, with Amano Corporation. By leveraging the Preferred Networks group's AI and deep-learning expertise, the company focuses on practical service and transport robots that automate the carrying and delivery of objects in everyday living and work spaces.
