"Any Environment. Any Mission."
Alameda, California maker of uncrewed cargo aircraft, founded 2024; Egret and Heron carry 4,000 lb over 1,550+ nm, backed by a $60M Series A.
Poseidon Aerospace is a company in Alameda, California that designs, manufactures and plans to operate unmanned cargo aircraft for regional commercial air freight and contested defence logistics. It was founded in 2024 by David Zagaynov, chief executive, who had worked on logistics at Amazon, and Parker Tenney, formerly of Lockheed Martin. The company works out of a former Navy hangar in Alameda and states that it intends to run its own regional air cargo service rather than sell aircraft to existing carriers.
It is developing two full-scale, dual-use platforms that share a common design. Egret is a fixed-wing freighter for paved or unpaved runways, with a 50 ft wingspan, 500 cubic feet of cargo volume, 4,000 lb payload, 1,500 ft takeoff distance, 2,000 ft landing distance, 160 knot maximum cruise speed and a range of more than 1,650 nautical miles. Heron is the seaplane variant, able to operate from any body of water, with a 51 ft wingspan, 436 cubic feet of cargo volume, the same 4,000 lb payload and 160 knot cruise, an 1,800 ft landing distance and a range of more than 1,550 nautical miles. Both are remotely piloted and autonomy-capable and use internal combustion powerplants; neither is electric, hydrogen or vertical takeoff. A quarter-scale demonstrator called Seagull flew in 2025 to validate the design and control architecture.
The company's stated aim is to lower the cost per flight-ton-mile for moving goods to remote and infrastructure-constrained places, including islands and austere sites without long runways, and to serve military logistics where crewed aircraft are at risk.
Poseidon announced an 11 million US dollar seed round on 5 November 2025. On 8 September 2026 it announced an oversubscribed 60 million dollar Series A led by TQ Ventures, with JAWS, G Squared, Hanwha Asset Management USA, Starship Ventures, Drover Ventures and Draper Associates participating. The company said the Series A would fund flight testing of the first full-scale Egret, set up and scale its first production line, expand engineering and operations teams and deliver on customer programmes in commercial and defence logistics. The first uncrewed flight of the full-scale Egret is expected by the end of 2026. No customers or government contracts have been named publicly.
