Pollen Robotics is a French robotics company founded in 2016 in Bordeaux by Matthieu Lapeyre and Pierre Rouanet, former researchers in the Flowers developmental-robotics team at Inria. The pair had previously created Poppy, an early open-source, 3D-printed humanoid robot. In April 2025 Pollen Robotics became part of Hugging Face, pairing its open-source humanoid hardware with Hugging Face's model and developer community.
Reachy 2, the company's research-grade humanoid platform, stands 136 to 166 cm tall, weighs up to 50 kg, and carries dual 7-degree-of-freedom bio-inspired arms handling up to 3 kg each, built around Pollen's Orbita 2D and 3D joint actuators. It is fitted with stereo and RGB-D cameras plus LiDAR for perception and omnidirectional navigation, runs on ROS 2 with a Python SDK, and is offered on a mobile base or in a stationary configuration. Reachy Mini is a smaller expressive companion robot from the same team, with more than 10,000 units shipped for human-interaction and AI-experimentation use. The company also offers Microduck, a 25-centimeter biped with 15 motors that can walk, grasp objects with its beak, and right itself after falling.
Pollen Robotics builds its hardware around open-source principles, publishing designs and software rather than keeping them proprietary, and states it declines military funding for its work.
