"We Create Robots for Future Farmers"
Dutch maker of Robot One, a solar-assisted electric laser-weeding robot up to 6.2 m wide, built on a 10 ha campus in Almkerk since 2019.
Pixelfarming Robotics is a Dutch agricultural robotics company based at Campus Almkerk, a 10-hectare former farm in Almkerk, North Brabant, that serves as its headquarters and test site. The founders, CEO Arend Koekkoek and COO Ronald de Kort, bought the farm in 2016; a team began building a prototype in 2017, early prototypes and a laser-weeding concept were shown at Dutch Design Week in 2018, and the company was founded in 2019. The robot was tested with an organic farmer in 2021, shown at the Floriade Expo in Almere in 2022, and unveiled in redesigned form at FIRA 2023 in Toulouse. The first robots were delivered to growers in 2024, and pre-season field trials were run in Spain in 2025. The company reports about 30 employees and is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under KvK 77103491.
Its product, Robot One, is an autonomous laser-weeding robot. It is fully electric with drive on all four wheels and four 48 V batteries that charge from standard 220-230 V outlets; roof-mounted solar panels recharge the batteries and power driving and computing, and an optional diesel range extender is recommended for multi-laser setups. It is offered with track widths of 3.20-3.60 m or 5.80-6.20 m and folds to 2.46 m for transport. High-power laser modules kill weeds, most effectively at the two-leaf stage; cameras are swappable modules and bed-top lighting improves detection. Navigation uses GPS with RTK, with fields defined by corner markers and geofences. Listed crops include spinach, onion, baby leaf, leek, chicory, fine herbs and tulips.
Growers train plant detection themselves through the Pixelfarming Academy software, which also receives scan data from the robot over Wi-Fi. The company sells through a dealer network and offers onboarding and support services.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Electric, solar-assisted autonomous robot that kills weeds with high-power laser modules.
Software where growers train crop detection, set geofences and review robot scan data.
