PIA Automation US, Inc. is the North American manufacturing and engineering subsidiary of PIA Group (Preh Industrial Automation), headquartered in Evansville, Indiana. The Evansville location is the oldest site within the PIA Group network, tracing its roots to EVANA Automation — a specialist in assembly systems for automotive, industrial, and medical technology founded in the early 1960s. Preh IMA Automation acquired EVANA Automation from Phillips Service Industries around 2001–2002, and the entity was rebranded as PIA Automation US, Inc. following the formation of the PIA Group in 2017.
Operating from its facility at 5825 Old Boonville Highway, Evansville, IN 47715, the U.S. subsidiary develops and delivers custom automated production systems spanning assembly, test, and inspection technologies. Core market segments served include automotive (powertrain, e-drive, ADAS, safety components), medical devices and diagnostics, energy storage (battery assembly and recycling), and commercial/consumer goods.
PIA Automation US is one of 12 globally networked PIA locations across Europe, North America, and Asia, employing approximately 1,800 people group-wide. The US entity holds ISO 9001:2015 certification, demonstrating compliance with international quality management standards. The Evansville site integrates PIA's Industry 4.0 software platform, including 11 proprietary smart apps for production monitoring, OEE optimization, and digital services.
The parent group, PIA Automation GmbH (Bad Neustadt, Germany), was formally constituted in 2017 by consolidating Preh IMA Automation and M&R Automation. Its Chinese holding entity, Ningbo PIA Automation Holding Corp., completed an IPO on the STAR Market of the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2022 under share number 688306. Customers include major automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers across North America, and the US site also supports medical device manufacturers requiring cleanroom-compatible assembly and functional testing equipment. PIA Group partnerships include FANUC (authorized system integrator), Siemens (Solution Partner), Stäubli, and Beckhoff.
