The company's origins lie in welding positioners, and that expertise expanded through the 1980s and 1990s into full robotic automation systems. Today PEMA serves six major industrial verticals: wind energy (onshore and offshore tower, foundation, and monopile fabrication), shipbuilding (panel lines, pipe welding, open block assembly), heavy equipment manufacturing (frames, booms, chassis), general fabrication, power generation (boiler membrane walls, pressure vessels), and offshore and process equipment (tanks, heat exchangers).
PEMA's product portfolio includes robotic welding stations with adaptive seam tracking, the PEMA Skytrack rail-mounted robot transport system for long-seam welding, the PEMA Skyline FMS (Flexible Manufacturing System) for automated production sequencing, column-and-boom manipulators, roller beds and turning rolls for cylindrical workpieces, welding positioners (tilt-turn, headstock-tailstock, and L-type variants), and induction-heating solutions for pre- and post-weld heat treatment of wind tower sections. The PEMA WeldControl software suite provides process data management, weld parameter logging, and production monitoring.
Notable customer references include Navantia UK/Harland & Wolff (Type 26 frigates for the Royal Navy), Haizea Wind (offshore wind monopiles, Spain), and Lecitrailer (semi-trailer manufacturer, Spain). In June 2026 Pemamek acquired MACH Machines to expand its robotic welding capabilities.
