Company Overview

Origin Robotics is a Latvian defence technology company headquartered in Riga, founded in 2022 by UAV-industry serial entrepreneurs Agris Kipurs and Ilja Nevdah in response to escalating security threats in Europe. The company develops advanced autonomous unmanned aerial systems for Europe and NATO allies, combining cost-effective hardware with AI for surveillance, reconnaissance and counter-drone applications.

Its flagship product, BLAZE, is a man-portable autonomous interceptor drone designed to defeat fast-moving aerial threats including hostile UAVs and loitering munitions. BLAZE pairs radar-based detection with AI-powered computer vision and operator-supervised autonomy to deliver autonomous target acquisition and interception. The system weighs less than 6 kg, carries an 800-gram high-explosive fragmentation warhead, can be set up tool-free and made flight-ready in under ten minutes, and engages targets at high speed with a range exceeding 10 km. BLAZE has achieved rapid international traction: Latvia, Estonia and Belgium received the first systems, making them among the first European NATO members to field a fully autonomous interceptor drone, and France ordered the system following a competitive evaluation by its defence procurement agency (DGA).

Origin Robotics signed a multi-year framework agreement with the Latvian Armed Forces for continued BLAZE deliveries, with the first contract approved by Latvia's Cabinet of Ministers in April 2026. The framework establishes a long-term procurement route for Latvia while enabling other European nations to join through government-to-government cooperation. CEO Agris Kipurs previously co-founded and led Airdog, an autonomous consumer-drone maker later acquired by Alarm.com.
