Company Overview

Organifarms GmbH is a German agricultural robotics company based in Konstanz, Baden-Wuerttemberg, that develops harvesting robots for horticultural systems and greenhouses. Its founders met at a hackathon in Berlin in April 2020, tested on a real robot for the first time in a basement in Konstanz in September 2020 and incorporated the company as a limited liability company in May 2021. Marian Bolz is CTO and founder; Markus Mueller (finance) and Franz Wanner (sales and business development) are managing directors. The team numbers 13 people across software, mechatronics, DevOps and operations.

The company's product is BERRY, a strawberry harvesting robot designed to be integrated into standard greenhouses as a plug-and-play solution. BERRY navigates autonomously, uses image recognition and in-house software to detect fruit ripeness and quality, and harvests by cutting the stem rather than touching the fruit. Fruit is placed directly into sales punnets; when a punnet reaches its target weight the robot moves to the next one, and crates are exchanged autonomously. An onboard store holds up to 20 kg of fruit, and the battery-powered robot is designed for 24-hour, year-round operation. Variety, ripeness threshold and punnet fill level can be set by the grower. Organifarms assesses greenhouse integration case by case and offers demonstrations in the customer's greenhouse; named trial and technology partners include EBZ, De Ruwenberg, Metazet Formflex, Gemuesebau Steiner and Delphy ISFC.

BERRY entered greenhouse trials in Baden-Wuerttemberg in September 2021 and completed its first full harvesting season by January 2023. It won the GreenTech Innovation Award at GreenTech Amsterdam in June 2022 and first place in agROBOfood's Pitch Your Robot challenge in April 2023; the company was also listed in the FoodTech 500 (2023). Early funding came from Start-up BW Pre-Seed (2021) and from the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Rentenbank (2022). In November 2023 Organifarms entered a partnership with automation specialist EBZ Group for joint scaling of harvesting robots, and in August 2025 the company announced that EBZ Group had acquired a majority stake.
