Opto Engineering is an industrial machine-vision company founded in September 2002 by Claudio Sedazzari, headquartered in Mantua (Mantova), Italy, where its facility spans over 1,100 square meters of offices, R&D labs, production, and logistics space. The company operates as an independent group with international subsidiaries, including its North American unit, Texas Industrial Optics Inc. (TIO Inc.), based in Houston, Texas, opened in 2008 as its first foreign office.
Opto Engineering designs and manufactures optics, cameras, lighting, and machine-vision software for industrial inspection. Its lens lines include telecentric, pericentric, macro, and fixed-focal-length lenses, plus 360-degree and hypercentric designs for full-perimeter part inspection; the telecentric lens line launched in 2003. Its ITALA series of GigE Vision cameras, introduced in 2023, includes IP67-rated models with liquid-lens autofocus for harsh factory environments. The range is completed by structured and diffuse illuminators, illumination kits, mounting accessories, and OEVIS machine-vision software.
The company added subsidiaries in Shanghai (2012) and Munich (2013), formed joint ventures covering AI-based and adaptive-optics technology in 2016-2017, and holds TUV Rheinland quality certification plus EcoVadis and Green Web Foundation recognition. Opto Engineering reports 99 patents as of 2025.
