Neato Robotics
US consumer robotics company that pioneered D-shaped LiDAR-navigated robot vacuums; acquired by Vorwerk in 2017 and discontinued in April 2023.
Neato Robotics, Inc. was a Newark, California-based consumer robotics company founded in 2004, renowned for pioneering the D-shaped robotic vacuum cleaner form factor and the LaserSmart LiDAR-based room mapping and navigation system. Their Botvac D Series (D3 through D10) featured Wi-Fi connectivity, multi-floor mapping, No-Go Zone configuration, and voice assistant integration. Vorwerk Group (Germany) completed full acquisition of Neato Robotics on September 20, 2017, following an earlier investment relationship.
Under Vorwerk ownership, Neato continued product development and market expansion. In April 2023, Vorwerk announced the permanent discontinuation of the Neato brand. New robot production ceased and cloud services were wound down.
The brand is no longer active and no new products are manufactured or sold.
