Navya Mobility is a French company specializing in the design, manufacture, and commercialization of autonomous, driverless, and fully electric vehicles for passenger transport and industrial logistics. Founded in 2014 in the Lyon area when investor Christophe Sapet and Robolution Capital acquired the assets of Induct Technology, Navya launched its first production vehicle — the Arma autonomous shuttle — in September 2015, becoming one of the first companies globally to bring a driverless shuttle to commercial deployment.
The Arma is a fully electric, level-4 autonomous shuttle capable of carrying up to 15 passengers at speeds of up to 25 km/h. It navigates using a sensor suite comprising LiDAR units, cameras, and GPS, operating in controlled environments such as urban campuses, airports, parks, and pedestrianized zones. Navya deployed its inaugural public route in September 2016 in the Confluence district of Lyon, France. By 2023, the company had deployed more than 220 vehicles across 32 countries.
Beyond passenger shuttles, Navya developed the Autonom Tract 135, an autonomous electric tractor designed for logistics and baggage handling. Testing began with French logistics group Geodis in September 2021.
The company also developed a proprietary autonomous driving software stack, Navya Drive, which served as the control and perception layer for its vehicles and was offered as a licensable platform.
In April 2023, following financial difficulties, Navya was acquired from receivership by autonomous vehicle manufacturer Gaussin and Japanese semiconductor company Macnica. The combined entity was renamed Gaussin-Macnica-Mobility (GAMA). As of 2026, autonomous shuttle services using Navya technology continue to operate in multiple countries, including a commissioning announced in Malta in June 2026 for a six-month public testing phase.
Navya's headquarters were located in Villeurbanne (greater Lyon metropolitan area), France, with additional operations in Michigan, USA. The company employed more than 200 staff at its peak, with teams in France and the United States.
